SMALL PRACTICE
Digital Fabrication (CARP 224) at Laney College is in introduction to using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM.) Students learn a suite of powerful software to design one of a kind objects and furniture and use the Laney FabLab to fabricate them full scale. Tools at the FabLab include laser cutters, 3D Printers, CNC Machines, Water Jet Cutter and a Vinyl Cutter. The year long class culminates in a one sheet of plywood Design/Build project where each student gets a sheet of plywood and has full creative control to make whatever they want from it with the tools available in the FabLab.
